Ice Cream Value Study

So this was another idea from Pinterest that I thought was really great...so I came up with a fun way to teach the kids about color value as well as complimentary colors.  First we folded our paper into 6 spaces, then we painted the original color in one square, added a little white to paint another, and then even more to paint another.  We did the same thing with the black paint - giving us 5 colors.

Patiently waited a week for the paint to dry and then traced ice cream scoop shape and cut them out.  Then we stacked them and glued onto the complementary color of our ice cream.  Added a cherry and some sprinkles and it was almost good enough to eat!

Rainy Day Watercolor Resist

This was a fun project I found on Pinterest...We used white crayons to draw the dotted lines and puddles.  Then we used a wet on wet technique with black, blue, and purple (some of the kids couldn't help using the other colors too).

Our Spring Art Show...

This was a lot of work, but totally worth it!  I had so much fun with the students and it was so rewarding to see their excitement as they came into the studio and saw their art up on the walls.

Here's a look at the show...
